Project Hail Mary

For those who loved Andy Weir’s The Martian, try Project Hail Mary – in which Weir,
still with plenty of hard science, plunges deeper into sci-fi.
The Sun is dimming – and the problem is astrophage, a wildly multiplying alien organism that thrives on solar energy. And it’s not just our sun that’s in trouble: stars across the galaxy are also losing power – except one, Tau Ceti, So an expedition is launched to Tau Ceti, with unwilling science teacher Ryland Grace on board, suddenly tasked with saving the world.
He’s not alone: he has help from Rocky, a crab-like alien from the equally threatened planet Erid, who has a talent for engineering.
A fascinating and edge-of-your-seat addictive read.
